COVID-19 Updates
Impact Church COVID-19 Update (11.12.2020)
It’s been the better part of a year…and COVID-19 still has a us masked up and social distance in almost every aspect of our lives. As I write this…my wife and I are quarantined from the world and each awaiting another round of test result. That said, this past week has brought up some questions among our leadership team here at Impact. With the numbers of COVID cases increasing every day…the underlining question: What is the most loving thing we can do for our Impact Church family in the midst of the mess?
In response to that question, the leadership team and I have made the decision to once again move our Sunday morning gatherings to an online only experience beginning this Sunday (Nov. 15th) through the remainder of 2020.
I know this is not the ideal, but we believe this decision is the most loving thing we can do for our church and our community.
As usual you can find our live stream on our Facebook page and we will go live each Sunday at 10am. Our Facebook page can be found by clicking the following link: https://www.facebook.com/ImpactNewHaven/
Remember that the church is not a building but a people. So, I want to encourage everyone to gather in your living room as a family and be ready as always to connect God...with His people...and ultimately His plan and purpose for your life.
Impact...may we be a church who sees people where they are...in the midst of confusion and chaos...and meets them with the Love of Jesus...and leads with FAITH (instead of fear)...in SERVICE (instead of isolation)...and in PEACE (instead of anxiety).
Let’s continue to pray, serve, connect, and give as we trust in God no matter the situation!

Impact Church COVID-19 Update (3.17.2020)
I am sure by now you have read the reports from the CDC requesting all gatherings larger than 10 people be canceled for at least the next 14 days to alleviate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In response to that, the leadership team and I have made the decision to move our Sunday morning gatherings completely online as long as it is deemed necessary by those helping to combat the Coronavirus.
As usual you can find our live stream on our Facebook page and we will go live each Sunday at 10am. Our Facebook page can be found by clicking the following link: https://www.facebook.com/ImpactNewHaven/.
Remember that the church is not a building but a people. So, I want to encourage everyone to gather in your living room as a family and be ready as always to connect God...with His people...and ultimately His plan and purpose for you life.
We are looking forward to seeing/hearing the stories of how God will move as people who haven’t been “in church” for years, begin to engage with the people of God, as you invite them into community in new and creative ways.
This is an unprecedented time for our church, for our nation and for the world. While the days and weeks ahead may be challenging, as followers of Jesus we can rest in the fact that we are not walking through this alone. In John's Gospel, Jesus shared these words as he prepared His disciples for His crucifixion, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Regardless of what will come over the days and weeks ahead, we can put our faith in Jesus and trust that in health or sickness, He is with us and He has overcome. So we place our trust in Jesus, as we walk in the His wisdom he has provided us.

A WORD ON CORONAVIRUS FROM IMPACT CHURCH (3.13.202)
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”- Philippians 4:6-7 (The Message)
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE DOING AS A CHURCH...
TRUSTING GOD: Viral disease is a fact of biological existence hear on this rock we call earth. We would do well to keep perspective and not panic, just as we do for a majority of all other risks we face as creatures in a finite world. No matter how dire circumstances get, the Lord remains our refuge and strength, “an ever-present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1). To trust in the Lord amid trouble is to experience and bear witness to the power of Christ.
PRAYING: We must pray for the sick and the scared, for public health officials, for doctors and nurses, for researchers, and for caregivers. As Christians, we believe prayer has power, so we seek help from the Lord.
STAYING INFORMED: The media is bombarding us with updates by the minute making it impossible to read, absorb and respond to every news report, Tweet, or latest rumor. We’re following a reliable list of information for educational, planning and management purposes.
-CDC on COVID-19: The US Center for Disease Control’s up-to-date resources on coronavirus.
-CDC Resources for Community and Faith-Based Organizations: The CDC has also created resources specifically for faith-based organizations to respond to influenza pandemic, which are applicable in this situation. As a church, we’re implementing this guidance.
-Our Denomination...The Wesleyan Church: One of the great benefits of being part of a larger denomination...among other things is that
they are always looking out for the local church. They have been in regular communication with us as we navigate next steps in Loving
our community well during this time.
PREPARING: Because COVID-19 likely spreads like the cold and the flu, personal hygiene is very important among staff, volunteers, and those all who will attend our gatherings throughout the week (washing hands, avoiding contact with the sick, staying home if you’re sick, and so on). We are implementing the CDC recommendation for hand sanitizer stations in public places.
We’re also implementing CDC recommendations on our routine cleaning practices to include all frequently touched surfaces in workplaces, restrooms, and nurseries, including workstations, countertops, doorknobs, and toys. In addition to these practical steps, we’re also doing the following:
A. We’re asking you to adjust how we typically greet one another in our weekend gatherings, encouraging everyone to “Nod to your Neighbor” rather than a
typical handshake, fist & elbow bump, or hugs.
B. We are temporarily suspending our Sunday morning coffee bar and donuts.
C. As far as maintaining safe personal space during Sunday morning gatherings, feel free to move a chair or 5 to a open space for your family to enjoy.
HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP...
1. Pray for our community and those directly affected by COVID-19. Pray for the health care workers that are treating the sick and those
public health and community officials who are tasked with making difficult decisions. Pray that God would protect our community from
further spread of the virus.
2. Reflect Christ. In these anxious days, the church (all of us) can shine as a light of hope, care, faith, and patience. We can demonstrate
for the world how our faith provides true assurance against worry and fear.
3. Practice recommended personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently.
4. If you are sick...we ask that you please stay home and connect right here on with our live feed on facebook.
5. Join our Impact Prayer Group on facebook. It’s a place where you can “Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting
God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.”
